The theme for the APT Denver 2010 Conference, Layers across Time—Preserving a Diverse Western Heritage, was developed to evoke an appreciation of the rich heritage of the American West, spanning over 1000 years, and exemplifying the westward development of the United States. This Conference will examine history and the built environment via materials, type of structures, patterns of growth and the future of preservation through sustainable design.

The Conference will continue the APT tradition of setting the standard for preservation ideologies, to present the most current technologies to assist the preservation process, and to give voice to the international community for preservation findings. It is from this foundation that the ongoing discussion will continue on how to successfully link preservation and sustainability during the age of rapid climate change.

In addition, Getty grant bursary recipients, along with all Conference participants, will gain enhanced expertise through international exchange. Getty grant bursary recipients that are not currently members of APT will receive complimentary membership through June 30, 2011, and will have the opportunity to participate in and support the newly created APT Latin America Chapter.
